Washington Nonprofits teams with WSCTA for Strategic Planning Workshop June 30 in Yakima

We are honored to be partnering with Washington Nonprofits to bring a strategic planning workshop to our members! WSCTA members are eligible to receive a discount on registration fee.
One of the difficulties in managing a community theatre is the varied experience of the board members, yet the decisions they make can have a lasting impact on the future of the organization. Understanding how strategic planning fits into achieving the mission of any nonprofit organization is essential to a strong board.

As part of the WSCTA mission to support community theatre throughout the state, we are thrilled to bring you this workshop. The benefits of strategic planning include increased focus, support, accountability and ability to measure impact. The vast majority of small nonprofits who do not have plans are missing this opportunity to think deeply about their work and expand their capacity to deliver more powerfully on their mission.
The workshop will be delivered by Virginia Lang, an experienced Washington Nonprofits trainer and theater director. Lang is a veteran management consultant who has worked in the corporate sector and the nonprofit community as an adviser on all aspects of community affairs for almost 30 years.
The workshop will be held June 30th at the Yakima Valley Museum from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm.  There will be plenty of time for networking with other theatre groups and nonprofits. Strategic planning is all about aligning your people, partnerships, and resources around a plan to achieve your mission. It invites conversation and prioritization on ways to make a difference while ensuring the health and sustainability of your organization. Strategic Planning in Nonprofits (SPiN), created by Washington Nonprofits, was designed to make strategic planning accessible and manageable for you, your board, and your staff.

This workshop is designed to set you up for planning success. You will:

  • learn how to work through the six stages of the strategic planning process.,
  • be able to assess the current state of your organization,
  • know how to improve your mission statement,
  • be able to name one strategic priority for your organization,
  • have an action plan of at least two next steps to take towards developing a strategic plan, and
  • have the resources, worksheets, and processes to help you get there!

As an added perk, attending the workshop qualifies you for an additional consultation with a nonprofit planning professional to support planning efforts back at your organization.

Why attend? A strategic plan is key to good decision-making, communication, and fundraising. The right tools will move your board to action so that you can better achieve your mission.
If you are an individual or part of an organizational member of WSCTA, send an email to info (at) wscta.org requesting your discount code to use at checkout.
We hope you will join us for this very informative day. Your theatre, as well as your patrons, will thank you!

Kaleidoscope 2019 to be held in Prosser, Washington

Kaleidoscope 2019! Our biennial state community theatre festival will be hosted by The Valley Theatre Company in Prosser February 27 – March 3, 2019.
